THE GUARDIAN: Icelandic volcano: latest travel advice for passengers
While volcanic ash is damaging to jet engines, old-fashioned piston-engined planes are apparently unaffected. Private aviation company PrivateFly.com says it has been chartering piston planes across Europe in the last few days to get passengers moving. About 20 of its clients have travelled overland to Le Touquet in northern France then flown in piston-engined planes back to UK airports.
