PrivateFly’s Adam Twidell wins industry ‘tech pioneer’ award

The co-founder and CEO of PrivateFly has been named as one of the private jet industry’s Top 10 leadership figures for 2015. Adam Twidell, who launched the company in 2007, was praised for ‘pioneering a new way of doing business’ by the judging panel and for the company’s 60 per cent sales growth in the last year. But Twidell says he is setting his bar higher, with ambitious plans for the US market.

PrivateFly’s unique technology links private jet customers with thousands of accredited private aircraft worldwide, giving instant pricing via its multi-lingual web and app platforms. Customers can book online or over the phone, with the company’s 24-hour Flight Team.
The Top 10 Leaders of European Business Aviation is an annual award list, compiled by the leading international media title Aviation Week and announced at EBACE (European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition) - taking place this week in Geneva. This is the second year running that Adam Twidell has made the Top 10. He is the only customer-facing broker or intermediary to be recognised in the list, which also includes aircraft operators; airport management; aircraft manufacturers; and designers.

Adam Twidell commented: “I am thrilled to receive this accolade for the second year running, particularly the ‘pioneer’ label, as it really underlines what the whole team at PrivateFly is about. We passionately believe that booking a private aircraft can - and should - be much easier, faster and more cost-effective through technology, without losing the all-important VIP service element.
“It’s great to have our strong business growth recognised too, but I am always looking for more. Most companies would be over the moon with 60 per cent annual growth, but that was just the target that we’d set ourselves.”

PrivateFly announced earlier this year that is it seeking second round fundraising to accelerate its footprint in the USA, which already accounts for 20 per cent of its flight sales.
Twidell continued: “PrivateFly’s technology-based model has proven itself in Europe over the last few years, including strong growth in France and the UK. We are already attracting growing interest from US business aviation customers and this is a major focus for our future development”.
