Private jet charter network PrivateFly.com has announced the launch of its Private Jet Photography Awards 2013. The new contest is now open for entries and will be judged by an expert panel from the world of aviation and travel photography.
The awards, launched for the start of EBACE 2013, include five categories: In the Air; On the Ground; Detail; Aircraft Crew; and Speed. Entries are invited from both amateur and professional photographers, based anywhere in the world.
The international judging panel features some of the world's leading aviation and travel photographers including Nick Meers; Paul Bowen; Jessica Ambats; Craig Easton; and Tom Mackie. Other judges include Alan Capel - Head of Content at Alamy; Caroline Metcalfe - Photographic Director for Conde Nast Traveller; and Manfred Zollner – Managing Editor of Fotomagazin in Germany.
The overall winner will receive a cash prize of £1,000 (or equivalent local currency), with a prize of £250 awarded to each category winner. The overall winner will also receive preferential terms and a featured photographer profile with Alamy, the largest online stock photography site. The closing date for entries is 31 August 2013 and the awards have been drawn up in accordance with the Artists' Bill of Rights.
Adam Twidell, CEO of PrivateFly.com, is an experienced private jet pilot, former RAF pilot and another member of the judging panel.
He comments as follows: “We are delighted to be launching these photography awards at the start of EBACE 2013, which always attracts a large number of aviation photographers to Geneva.
Our prestigious judging panel brings some of the world’s leading photographers, together with experts from the travel and image industries.
“Private aviation excites people and inspires some iconic, stunning imagery. Photographers in this field often go to great lengths and travel extensively in pursuit of the perfect shot, whether air-to-air or a unique view of some other aspect of a private jet aircraft.
“We intend to make the awards an annual celebration of the best in private aviation photography. This is an exciting opportunity for photographers in this field to showcase their images to a judging panel of this calibre, and to receive global recognition for their exceptional talent and dedication.
