The Citation Jet (CJ) series is a family of small private jets, seating between 5 and 8 people (and sometimes known as the Cessna Citation C525 family). Since the smallest member of the family, the CJ1, was launched in the early 1990s, they have been a highly successful series of small private jets for manufacturer Cessna.
The CJ family remain very popular in the charter market - due to their availability and competitive pricing. Below we compare the different members of the Citation Jet family and look at how typical charter pricing compares on the same route.

THE CJ1: ECONOMICAL FOR SHORT TRIPS
The CJ1 was developed by Cessna, to replace its previous small jet, the Citation I. The CJ1 can be summed up in three words: simplicity, economy, and performance. Economical in flight, it still allows for a surprisingly high payload and can hold a total of 832lbs of luggage. The CJ1 was specifically designed to be able to operate on short runways, such as London City Airport or Salzburg Airport.
It is very popular for short-range trips within Europe or US. The CJ1 seats five passengers, and offers a separate lavatory and hot and cold beverage area.
THE CJ2: STRETCHED VERSION OF THE CJ1
The CJ2 is a slightly bigger and faster version of its younger sister. The cabin stretches an additional 33 inches, and the wingspan an additional 35. It is also faster than the CJ1 with a lower fuel-burn.
The cabin typically holds six passengers. Its three baggage compartments can carry a total of 1,100 pounds of luggage and there's a small luggage space inside the aircraft for access mid-flight. The seats are typically laid out in a club arrangement with two forward-facing seats.
THE CJ3: ROOMIER BUT STILL HIGHLY-ECONOMICAL
The Citation CJ3 is recommended for short to mid-range flights, with a maximum of 6 passengers. It can be popular with clients who have flown in turboprop aircraft and want to find a comparably-priced jet.
The CJ3 seats 6, like the CJ2, but it offers a roomier cabin, more windows and includes well-placed power outlets and folding tables. So it is a good choice for those who wish to work onboard.
Like all the Citation Jet series, it is an economical choice, compared to other jet aircraft of the same size.

THE CJ4: THE LATEST & MOST ADVANCED CITATION JET
Larger, faster and more comfortable than its smaller siblings, the CJ4 is still classified as a small jet, yet offers a step up in terms of speed and range. This opens up routes such as London to Moscow while retaining the ability to access shorter runways – giving passengers excellent flexibility.
The CJ4 also offers a larger and longer cabin, to seat 8 people. And as it is the newest aircraft in the Citation Jet range (launched in 2009), its cabin offers ergonomic seating; improved entertainment technology; and a deluxe refreshment area - in addition to its private restroom.
