HARPENDEN A-LEVEL STUDENTS LIVE THE PRIVATE JET LIFESTYLE
Three lucky students from Sir John Lawes School in Harpenden have had the chance to gain an insider’s view of the world of private jet travel. The boys - Connor Smith, Nicky Day and Luke Ledwidge - were invited to Luton airport by St Albans-based private jet company PrivateFly.com, to make a film for their Media Studies A-Level course.
The group were tasked with making a promotional film and, working with PrivateFly, learnt about many aspects of private jet travel. They visited Luton airport's RSS private jet terminal in May to make the film, and were able to capture footage at the airport and in and around some private jets, including a Learjet 45 and Citation XLS+.
PrivateFly also took the students to Biggin Hill airport in Kent, where they were given an insight into private jet catering and were able to taste some for themselves.
PrivateFly's CEO Adam Twidell, who is also a private jet pilot himself, commented: "We were delighted to be able to help the students with their film. They worked very hard and did a fantastic job. I think we may now have some budding pilots amongst the group - if they continue to work hard at their studies of course!
"Being based in St Albans is good for business in many ways - not least the exceptional levels of talent and potential in Hertfordshire's young people. In addition to this project, we have offered work experience and internships over the last three years, with two of our interns going on to become full-time PrivateFly employees. We thoroughly enjoy getting their ideas and input, as well as hopefully giving them a head start into an aviation or business career."
Connor Smith added: "It was great to have the opportunity to make our film about private jets. Something that many people don't get access to in their lifetime, never mind when they're still at school. Our friends were very envious that we got to experience the private jet lifestyle for a month!"
