Adelaide Airport History
The original Adelaide airport was an aerodrome on the Parafield Airpotr site which opened in 1921 and provided facilities for airmail services between Adelaide and Sydney.
By 1941 the aviation needs had outgrown Parafield, and work began on a new airport, adjacent to West Beach, which is the site now known as Adelaide Airport.
In October 2005, the construction of the new terminal was completed and Terminal 1 was officially opened, providing brand new state-of-the-art passenger facilities.
Parafield Airport is now used for small aircraft, pilot training and recreational aviation and is a major world standard international training airport.
