Bangkok Don Muang Airport is one of two major airports in Bangkok and acts as the main private jet airport.
The airport was closed in September 2006 due to the opening of the new international Suvarnabhumi Airport but was reopened in March 2007 due to demand by various aircraft operators.

History
Don Muang Airport was originally opened on the 27th March 1914 as a military base for the Royal Thai Air Force making it one of the oldest airports in Asia and the world.
Based on it’s military background it was used as a base by the Japanese in world war II as well as a base by the United States of America during the Vietnam war.
With the opening of the new Suvarnabhumi Airport the name of Don Muang Airport was changed to Don Mueang Airport. However, the traditional spelling is still used by many operators and Thais.
