Originally the site of an Allied Forces airbase during World War 2, Cairo International Airport was officially opened in 1963. One of the busiest airports in Africa, although it has lost the top spot in recent years to Johannesburg, the airport is continuing to modernise with the newly refurbished Terminal 2 due in 2015.
