Abbeville Airport History

Although it is unknown when Abbeville airfield was built, it was upgraded with three concrete runways by the Luftwaffe who used the airfield for over 50 aircrafts between 1940 and 1943 as a major German fighter base.

The airfield was abandoned after the war and the modern day airfield has mainly been converted for other uses. Out of the three original runways, only the 02/20 runway is still in use and two small grass runways exist. Abbeville Airport is now used for small aircraft.
